Dear Country Bumpkin

26 05 2009

The only reason why I did not turn around, follow you in my car, make you pull your vehicle over to the side of the road, and introduce you to my Little Friend – is because I was tired.

I just got off work and the only thing I wanted was a nice, hot shower.

Also, I do not not have a Little Friend, at least not one that I keep in my car. Not the kind that spits bullets anyway.

You should be careful, as should I, but especially you. You should not yell out your window and call someone stupid because their headlights are brighter than yours.

That could get you killed. Seriously.

Sincerely,

A Girl without a Litte Friend

Smells like a Crimson Wave

25 05 2009

I felt it pooling between my legs, in a warm pleasant way as I laughed.

A Crimson Wave.

My Period.

It has been with me for almost 17 years.

It made its first splash under the sea with Disney’s The Little Mermaid many summers ago….

And that stream of creativity has just died.

It is here though. That Crimson Wave. It arrived on Sunday.

I am not sure when I started calling it that. Maybe when I was in high school. Yes, high school five years ago.  I am pretty sure that is when it started.

I woke up Sunday and my body felt different in that way. I am not sure if you know of what I speak, but I can always tell. With some women I know, they start to either feel extremely queasy, bloated, and gasy. They also start craving sweets. I always crave sweets and greasy food. I had two glazed, cinnamon fries Sunday night and woke up Monday morning with a bit of discomfort. A minor cramp. I got my heating pad to make the discomfort go away and it did. If I were paying more attention, which I was not, I would have been aware of The Wave’s arrival. I would have drank water ONLY, no tea or anything else with sugar. Regardless, it should be running dry by Thursday.

* * * * *

Since I have gotten the girl talk out of the way, on to more personal matters.

Not counting this week, I have three more weeks of classes left. I will be so relieved when they are over. I will have some time to sit and think. I also take the LSAT in three weeks. I am studying for it in the midst of classes.

Also, I had my first therapy session last week. It is free as long as I am a student. Some of you may be wondering why therapy. I can only say that it is the only option that I am comfortable with exercising at this moment.

I have a few things that weigh on my mind and I am trying to embrace the young woman that I am becoming. More importantly, I am trying to understand and let go of the past so that it does not continue to hinder my future. I know that explanation does not appear to say anything, but when I understand more with these sessions (and do not feel so sleepy), I may explain myself.

Along more seductive lines, I purchased Seasons 1 & 2 of The Tudors and season 1 of True Blood. I LOVE Showtime’s The Tudor’s. Although, it was only after purchasing these items that I remembered that I do not have a television. I had one, but I passed it along to my sister. I plan on buying another one. Maybe through the wantads. I did watch season 1 of The Tudors in the family room. It took much to keep me from putting in season 2. I am going to save the remaining two sets and watch them at the end of the summer session.

Since my eyes are extremely heavy, I will end this.

Gnite all.

I’m Back!

5 05 2009

The title says it all – I am back!

I will not delve into too many details about my last few days as an undergrad. They came and went rather quickly. The graduation was even short – 1.5 hours long. Everyone thought it would last 3 hours.

I did not party. I am not a party kind of girl. I spent the whole day with my family. Before going to dinner I cleaned my room. I know, not what one should do on their BIG day, but I am strange like that. My room was so cluttered (due to moving back) and it was really bothering me. I like for things to be organized. I believe it is because of my OCD.

Anyway after I was done cleaning, I had several piles of clothes ready to donate to the homeless. I am still looking at said piles of clothing. I hope to have them donated by the end of the week.

NOW what am I doing? Applying for jobs like crazy! And going back to school, I start tomorrow. And studying for the LSAT. And working.

I believe I get my diplomas in the mail at the end of June. Until then, I get to start the same pattern again – work and school. I really cannot remember the last time I had a summer off.

Well, I must be off. Trying to be productive today before heading into work later. I may change this template because it is starting to bother me a bit.

New American Trend

21 04 2009

I know what I said, but I just finished talking to a friend of mine about the following stories below.

The only thing that I can say is that, nothing is that bad that you have to resort to not only killing yourself but your whole family too. IF you really believe that it is, do not take innocent lives in the process. Send them away and handle your business.

April 18, 2009

*Now, I am going to practice being MIA and get my work done.

MIA

21 04 2009

I am officially done with one of my classes!

Now I just have 4 more to tackle. I take the exams for those classes next week.

Then on Saturday, 2 May 2009…..I GRADUATE!
So as the title says, I will be MIA for a while.

Until then, here is some Vitamin C. This just song just popped into my head at random today during class.

RIP: Columbine High School

20 04 2009

It has been ten years since the Columbine High School shooting.
I pray that the families of all who were involved in this tragedy are doing as well as can be expected.

People need to experience great tragedies to bring them closer together…..

Old School Sunday: TLC, Waterfalls

19 04 2009

I remember when this video was released.

Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes had just set fire to her boyfriend’s home. Well it started in the tub and then spread throughout the rest of the home. She was arrested and during that time she wrote the rap for Waterfalls.

I do believe that before this video, there had not been one like it. At least not in regards to the special effects – it was the first.

Anyway, it is a great song with an important message, which still applies 14 years later. Enjoy.

21

16 04 2009

That is the number of programs that my university is going to eliminate. Well they are being targeted. These programs include:

Anthropology, Apparel Design, Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Geological Sciences, Molecular Biophysics, Oceanography, Hospitality and Golf Management, Physical Education, Science Education (College of Education), Geography, Behavioral Psychology, Software Engineering, Art Education, Ceramics, Sculpture, Studio Art, Recreational Management, German, Slavic Languages, Demography and Art Administration

There is also talk about cutting 350 faculty members, and closing the other campus.

But….

The athletic department at my school has been spared in these budget cuts.

Why?

The athletic department does not receive or use any state monies. The sports programs, including coaches ‘ salaries, are fully funded by revenue from ticket sales, Atlantic Coast Conference television and bowl contracts, Nike scholarships, student fees and from the boosters.

I suppose it makes sense because our football does generate a lot of much for my school.

Still, 21 programs, 350 faculty members, and the other campus – that is pretty serious. Although I am graduating in two weeks, I am glad that neither of my majors were on the list.

Moonlight Sonata

16 04 2009

One of my favorites, Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. If the pictures bother you, just close your eyes and listen.

It’s beautiful.

Another interesting thing, the Youtube Symphony Orchestra. They were scheduled to perform today at Carnegie Hall.

A Portugese Water Dog & A Sunday School Rapist

15 04 2009

So the Obama’s welcomed Bo, a Portuguese water dog. The funny thing is that he cannot swim.

Also, the Dow  was apparently down during this time. There was no mention of that. I thought it was kind of funny.

and in other news …..

Women cannot be rapist! Seriously! Apparently, that seems to be the most important aspect of this case. I thought it was the fact that 8 -year old Sandra Cantu was kidnapped, raped by an unknown instrument, killed, and packed into a suitcase. Melissa Huckaby is a woman. We know that. Please get over that and stick to the important matter at hand. Hello, all men and women are created equal – remember? So, a woman is just as capable as any man.
